Searvva Dolvot campii - join the Sámi songwriting camp Dolvot!
Dolvot has quickly become one of the most important meeting places for young Sámi artists and songwriters. Apply to be part of this fall's camp!
JM Norway and Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen has joined forces to strengthen and create visibility for the next generation of Sámi musicians with a unique song writing camp. Dolvot has held several memorable camps, facilitated new musical collaborations, and layed the grounds for new releases. In fact, three of the six songs competing in the Sámi Grand Prix in 2023 were written during one of the Dolvot camps!
This fall’s camp will be held from November 22nd to 24th, at the Lillelardal cabin, about an hour's drive from Oslo. Through new partnerships with Ijahis idja and House of Folk Music we are now able to invite 15 participants from Sápmi and other parts of Finland, Sweden and Norway, and you can apply to be one of them through this form. During the camp, you will work in groups to produce new music across genres and expressions, but with the goal of exploring how you can bring your Sámi identity into your musical expression.
In addition to participants, we are looking for two volunteers to help make the event possible. Tasks include transporting equipment (a driver’s license is not required, but feel free to mention if you have one), shopping and cooking, setting up, and other logistical support. As a volunteer, you’ll gain valuable experience, learn about Sámi music and culture, and meet an amazing group of passionate and talented musicians, songwriters, and producers. Does this sound interesting to you? Tell us a bit about yourself, your motivation, any connection you may have to Sámi culture, and what you can contribute in an email to sofie@jmn.no.
Dolvot is made possible with support from Nordic Culture Point, Sametinget and Saami Council.
