Ethno Norway

Ethno Norway

Every year there are a number of Ethno Camps worldwide. At the camps young folk musicians live together for a week to share and perform their traditional music.

Ethno is a unique project for folk musicians aged 15 to 30 years from all over the world. It consists of summer camps held annually and have been held in Belgium, Croatia, India, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Uganda. In the summer of 2015 JM Norway, in collaboration with a group of young Norwegian folk musicians,  will arrange the second Ethno Camp in Norway on Kjerringøy, an island close to Bodø – the main city in Nordland, a Norwegian county close to the Arctic Circle.

Through a combination of workshops, jam sessions and performances musicians get the opportunity to share their traditional music with each other. The project, which is a part of Jeunesses Musicales’ international music program brings together participants with different musical background and is a unique opportunity to get to know new people and music traditions.
