A new year in Norway

This is my sixth month here, and I feel it just changed my life going on this exchange. I feel like a new person, speaking Norwegian and loving the Norwegian food. Now I see although the Norwegians can seem cold, they are still lovely people.

The thing I love the most and enjoy doing is to sing and perform. Here at the school we have the opportunity to perform every Thursday. I have so much fun watching my colleges perform. This year I am performing outside of school as well. The 29th of January I had my first concert in Trondheim with my band from Trøndertun, and it was amazing. I got to sing all of the music that I recorded in my home country, and the people really liked it. I am still thinking about how wonderful that was.

From now on, it is not just Rebecca and me doing the MOVE program at Trøndertun, as we have received our new colleges from Brazil. They are amazing to spend time with, and we even speak the same language! I really miss my country and my family, but I am happy here.

Assa Matusse

Assa is from Mozambique and is a afrojazz singer. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. She grew up listening to her father playing the guitar and singing traditional Mozambique tunes. That’s partially the reason why she finds a lot of inspiration in traditional African music. When she was 14 years old she participated in a TV-show for youth called Tribo Junior, and three years later, in 2013, the talent show Super Tardes where she came in third. The same year Assa won an award at the Ngoma Mozambique in the category Feminine Revelation. Since she has had the opportunity of working with famous musicians from Mozambique. Assa has recorded but not yet released her debut album.
